Bakun..Sadly said that most of the people in Malaysia specifically in peninsula Malaysia know nothing about Bakun..Why?mayb they dun care about their own country or never ever see a newspaper or tv nor hear about such a bizarre form of information..
Bakun hydroelectric is a dam, located in island of borneo, under the territory of Malaysia, which is in Sarawak. What is it so significant about bakun? It is bcoz this dam is going 2 b the 2nd largest dam in the world, the 1st one is in china..bakun can generate power that can cater the demand of electricity to most ASEAN countries..even to southern china..that is y this dam is soo big..so big till they need to evacuate more than 10,000 villagers from their homes n flooded 80,000 hectares of land which is 2% of Sarawak remaining tropical forest..bakun’s dam originally should b completed in 2007 but due 2 some unavoidable crisis, this n that..till now the dam still in the process of completion n it is estimate 2 complete in 2010..
Bakun hydroelectric project got a lot of negative vibe from all over the world because of its size n the possibilities of what is going 2 happen during n after the dam operation..mainly in term of environment..80,000 hectares of tropical forest need 2 b bold so that it will not cause any future problem when the water raise up..wif the climax that we having now..putting down a lot of trees n not going to replant it is consider a sin 2 future generation..it will destruct the ecosystem, flora n fauna that been establish long b4 any of us existed..only god know what we will b missing when they flooded that area..that is y a lot of people r against building that dam..n there is also an issue about the life spend of that dam..the cost of maintaining the dam will surely b out of this world..it makes ppl wonder..how much profit will get n will it generate enough income to support the expenses it had been acquire for all these years..n also it is the tallest dam in the world, will it able 2 sustain the water pressure of the lake n how long will it last..
Every problem has its own solution, it is either applicable or not..so here goes..we cant stop development so y against it..it will not bring us any good..1 of the solution that i came up is 2 developed n still keep it green..how can we achieve that??well..1st of all, we need 2 set up a reserve location for flora n fauna..we need 2 survey any rare species of flora or fauna n relocate them 2 the reserve location..this ensure the survival of the species..2nd, we need 2 replant 2 another place equal from the area that had been destroyed 2 balance it out..it ensure the balance the contribution of CO2..resort would b a good idea to zero out unemployment in that area..the resort must b eco-friendly..meaning that it must use nature as much as possible..such as no air con what so ever..for the dam itself..we can just hope for the best..hope that they maintain well enough 2 not letting the dam crack or even worse..coz they know what they r doing n now it is all about trusting them..for trust goes a long way..

female genital mutilation..
what is female genital mutilation??well, 2 some ppl it means nothing..some of it who know the word will make it sound like it would start up world war 3.. n the other lucky ppl who know this term would actually hav their own opinion n would know the good n the bad of this act..k..female genital mutilation..it is a procedure involving partial or total removal of the external female genital exclusively for tradition or religious purpose..the thing is, it is not 2 their own consent 2 do this procedure..so we c this as a violation of a human right..in the past several decades, there hav been many efforts by the world health organization(WHO) 2 end the practise of female genital mutilation n till now there is no full stop..
female genital mutilation is recognized internationally as a violation of the human rights of girls and women..it reflects deep-rooted inequality between the sexes n constitutes an extreme form of discrimination against women. .it is nearly always carried out on minors and is a violation of the rights of children. .the practice also violates a person's rights to health, security and physical integrity, the right to be free from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, and the right to life when the procedure results in death..
amnesty international estimates that over 130 million women worldwide have been affected by some form of female genital mutilation, with over 2 million procedures being performed every year..it is mainly practiced in African countries..it is also practiced by some groups in the Arabian peninsula.
Some African societies consider female genital mutilation part of maintaining cleanliness as it removes several parts of the female genital..vaginal secretions, in reality, play a critical part in maintaining female health..in some areas of Africa, there exists the belief that a newborn child has elements of both sexes..in the male body the foreskin of the penis is considered 2 be the female element meanwhile the female body the clitoris is considered 2 be the male element. Hence when the adolescent is reaching puberty, these elements r removed 2 make the indication of sex clearer..
Female genital mutilation is often used as a means of preservation and proof of virginity, and is regarded in many societies as a prerequisite for honorable marriage..the husband will sometimes cut his bride's scar tissue open after marriage to allow for sexual intercourse..women who have had genital surgeries are often considered to have higher status than those who have not and are entitled 2 positions of religious, political and cultural power.. feminists n human rights activists generally disapprove of the practice because they view it as presupposing that women lack the self control or the right to decide when and with whom they engage in sexual activity.
Till now..UN still working on stopping the practice once n for all..they develop an international monitoring bodies n resolution that condemn the practice..it revised legal framework n growing political support 2 end female genital mutilation..its shown that if practising communities themselves decide to abandon female genital mutilation, the practice can be eliminated very rapidly.

Myammar..
myanmar oh myanmar..or should i say burma if i am an american, canadian, british or french..
k..what happen in myanmar that ppl in the world r eager 2 find out n want 2 settle that country current situation..
well..for what i know..ever since i hav a guts or mayb some interest 2 know about things that r outside my world..myanmar being control wif an iron fist due 2 their coup d'etat approach of their government, military junta..
then all the sudden there come daw aung san suu kyi..she is a daughter of general aung san, who is consider 2 b the father of modern day myanmar..she lead the pro democracy movement n for that she being lock up for some reason i dun know..ppl say it is bcoz of her influence of outside myanmar some how seen by the myanmar govt as a treat n need 2 b control..she also embodies the democracy that the ppl of myanmar..so put her in house arrest will some how make it less cruel..
according 2 the status quo on myanmar, ppl of the world reject the way of the military junta administrate myanmar based on civil right..they also condemn myanmar for not practicing the basic fundamental of ever ppl in this world hav..which is freedom..n for all these reason, most of countries in this world stop their diplomacy wif myanmanr..make myanmar 1 of the poorest country in the world..
cyclone nargis, 1 of the deadliest cyclone that ever hit myanmar make their economic, social n politic even worse..myanmar called for international assistance bt only thru govt 2 govt..they wont let any of the foreign volunteer 2 enter their territory resulting 2 every1 assumption that the aid might not b used..or delivered 2 the ppl of myanmar..
so it seem all goes against the govt of junta in everything happen to myanmar.. this is my view point on them..mayb most of the ppl who gonna read this blog will agreed on this..bt then what about their point of view..let me try 2 break down on what i think they view point look like..k..here goes..well i think that junta military is doing what they could wif their resources n intelligent they hav is for the best method they could come out for them n the ppl of myanmar..they c that it is better 2 guard their country from alien influence (other countries) that mayb in the future will effect them tremendously than what they hav now..better suffer a bit for now rather than suffer a lot in the future..n there r also other countries who try 2 intervene, mainly bcoz they hav interest in myanmar..1 2 gain profit as much as possible in what they can get their hands into..sound harsh but that is the way of life..
so..in the end..i think its up to the ppl of myanmar themselves 2 change or not 2 change in what they hav now..make note on what JFK famous quotes..ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what can you do for your country..
